Dr. Macdonald performed his undergraduate work at University of California, San Diego, and obtained his medical degree at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He received his surgical training at University of Colorado, and has been with Rocky Mountain Surgical Associates since 1996. He is a Board Certified General Surgeon and a fellow of The American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Hernia Society.
His practice is centered mainly at Rose Medical Center where he has served as Vice Chairman of Surgery. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Colorado. He also maintains a surgical practice at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton Colorado. He performs outpatient surgeries at Rose Surgical Center, Platte Valley Medical Center, and Mile High Surgical Center.
Dr. Macdonald specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Outpatient Surgery. He has performed thousands of laparoscopic hernia and gallbladder operations. He also specializes in the surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and hiatal hernia surgery.
Dr. Macdonald is affiliated with the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rapids, and Colorado State University.
He has been married since 1991 and has 3 boys. He enjoys golf, fishing, landscaping, and trying to get his boys through college. He has been recognized several times in Top Docs edition of the Denver’s 5280 magazine.
